Reliability claims after one quarter: deals moved; the cause is unproven
Bottom line
Since we widened tier two on 26 January, four of the six stalled deals have cleared security review and three have signed, worth $1.25M in ARR. The incident follow-up questions that stalled them have largely stopped. We cannot yet show that the wider claim caused this. I recommend we keep it, and I am asking the board to make the measures below a standing quarterly item.
What we committed to in January
Victor asked for deal velocity, not demo requests. Before seeing any results, we chose one measure: days from sending our security answers to the buyer's security sign-off, against the 2026 baseline. We also promised to rerun the failover test every quarter and publish the result, good or bad.
Results to 31 March
| Measure | Before | Q1 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Median days to security sign-off | 34 (14 deals, H2 2026) | 21 (5 deals; one still open at day 61) |
| Buyers sending incident follow-ups | 5 of 6 (Oct–Dec) | 1 of 5 |
| The six flagged deals | $2.4M stalled | 3 signed ($1.25M), 1 lost ($350k), 1 open, 1 paused |
| Failover retest, 20 runs | Jan: median 38 s, slowest 64 s | 24 Mar: median 41 s, slowest 71 s |
The retest is worse than January on both counts, and we published it on 26 March as promised. The slowest run was again the case where the provider goes silent. Aiko is checking whether Meridian's slower detection explains it; it is still under the 30-second limit at which we would drop that upgrade.
What we can and cannot conclude
- We can say the revised answers ended the back-and-forth: four of the five buyers who received them asked nothing further about incidents.
- We cannot say the claim closed $1.25M. Five deals are too few to separate it from three other changes in the same quarter: the Summit, where we met two of the three buyers who signed; a second solutions engineer from 1 February; and quarter-end buying. The one loss went to a competitor on price, and the buyer told us our reliability answers were not a factor.
- The website retest found no detectable effect on demo requests, but it cannot rule out a drop of up to 10%.
Recommendation, and how we will judge Q2 (decided now)
Keep the wider tier two unchanged, and report these measures to the board every quarter. On 30 June we will compare every deal that entered security review after 1 February with the 2026 baseline. If their median is not below 34 days, we stop citing deal velocity as a benefit and keep the claim only because it is accurate. If a quarterly retest has a median above 60 seconds or a slowest run above 90 seconds, Grace and I will bring revised wording to the board within two weeks.
This is great but it buries the lede 😅 Can the bottom line just say "$1.25M signed and security reviews 38% faster since we went transparent"? Every word of that is true, and Victor will love it.
Every number in it is true; it's the "since" I can't sign. On a board slide it reads as "because", and five deals can't carry that, not with the Summit in the same quarter. If Victor repeats it to the other investors and Q2 comes in flat, we've done the one thing we told the board we wouldn't. The $1.25M can lead the first sentence. It just can't lead to "because".

|---|---|---|
| A. Dana 案 "...38% faster since we went transparent" | "since" が因果に読める。
