第1稿(草案): エンジニア転職直後のリアル失敗

[Hook]:
Three weeks into my first software engineering assignment at Canon
IT Solutions, I missed my first deliverable.

[Setup]:
The feature was supposed to take two weeks. I had spent nine months
in intensive Java training, but the actual codebase was Python and
Django, with AWS infrastructure I had only studied conceptually. I
had hidden my struggle for the first ten days, working until 1 AM
each night, convinced that I could close the gap on my own. By
day fourteen, I had a half-implemented feature, no tests, and a
team lead who was too polite to ask the obvious question.

[Action]:
I went to my manager the next morning and told the truth: I had
underestimated the gap, I had been hiding it, and I needed help.
I asked to pair with a senior engineer for the next two weeks.
I committed to spending my evenings on Python fundamentals rather
than on the feature itself. I wrote a one-page document explaining
exactly what I knew and didn't, so my pair could calibrate quickly.

[Learning]:
The feature shipped two weeks late. But more importantly, I shifted
how I think about pivoting careers: hiding what you don't know is
the most expensive form of dishonesty, especially to yourself. The
asymmetric returns come from naming the gap loudly and asking for
help fast.

[Closing]:
Every project I have led at MonotaRO since has started with this
discipline.
