Part 1 — Q&A 形式

Q1. What do you do for work?

I'm a software engineer. I work at an e-commerce company and I'm mainly responsible for data pipelines and marketing automation systems.

Q2. Do you enjoy your job? Why or why not?

Yes, I enjoy it quite a bit. I like solving technical problems and seeing the direct impact of my work on business metrics. The main challenge is that the requirements change frequently, but that also keeps things interesting.

Q3. What skills do you think are most important for your job?

I think the most important skills are logical thinking and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to non-technical people. Of course, coding skills are essential, but communication is often what makes the difference between a project succeeding or failing.

Q4. Would you like to change your career in the future? Why or why not?

Yes, actually. In the long term, I'd like to move into a more senior role — possibly as a tech lead or even start my own technology company. I'm currently focusing on building a strong technical foundation to make that possible.

Part 2 — Cue Card(1

Describe a technology or app that you use regularly at work or in your daily life.

  • what the technology or app is
  • how you use it
  • how long you have been using it
  • and explain why you find it useful.

One piece of technology I use almost every day at work is Datadog, which is a monitoring and observability platform.

I use it to track the health of our data pipelines and automated marketing systems. For example, when a pipeline fails or runs slower than expected, Datadog sends me an alert, and I can quickly identify the root cause by looking at logs, metrics, and traces all in one place.

I've been using it for about two years now, ever since I joined my current company.

I find it incredibly useful for two main reasons. First, it significantly reduces the time it takes to diagnose problems — what used to take hours can now take minutes. Second, it gives me peace of mind because I can set up dashboards to monitor key metrics, so I always know whether systems are running correctly without having to check manually.

Without Datadog, I think our team would spend a lot more time firefighting and less time on actual development work.

Part 3 —

Q5. Do you think technology has made people's working lives better or worse overall?

I think technology has generally made working life better, but it's not without downsides. On the positive side, tools like Slack and cloud computing have made collaboration much easier, especially for remote teams. However, the expectation to always be "available" has blurred the line between work and personal time, which can be stressful. So overall, I'd say the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, but only if people establish clear boundaries.

Q6. How do you think technology will change the way we work in the next 20 years?

I believe AI will have the most significant impact. Many repetitive tasks — like writing basic code, processing documents, or answering customer queries — will be automated. This might free up workers to focus on more creative and strategic work. However, it will also require people to continuously upskill. Jobs that combine technical ability with human judgment will remain valuable, but the skills required will shift considerably.

「I am a software engineer. I work at an e-commerce company. I handle data pipelines and marketing operations.」

3 How long: 「I've been using it for about X years」
4 Why useful:

例:「While technology has undoubtedly improved efficiency, it has also created new pressures, such as being reachable 24/7.」

Part 1: 結論から「Yes, I enjoy it quite a bit.」
Part 2: 4項目カバーCue Card の what / how / how long / why useful をそれぞれ1〜2文で
While X, Y" / "On the positive side... However..."
I believe", "I think ... will" → Part 3 は断定よりも推測が自然

"I am engineer." I am an engineer."
"I like my job very much."
"I think technology is good." I think technology has both advantages and disadvantages."
"I don't know." That's an interesting question. I think..." と始める
