この問題は「どちらか一方」ではなく "Discuss both views + give your opinion" 型。

Introduction
The question of how children should spend their leisure time has become a prominent debate in modern education. While some argue that adult-led activities such as sports clubs and music lessons provide essential benefits, others contend that children should have the freedom to direct their own play. This essay will examine both perspectives before arguing that a balanced approach is most beneficial.
Body 1 — Structured Activities
Those who favour structured activities point to the numerous advantages they provide. Organised sports, music lessons, and other adult-supervised programmes instil discipline, build specific skills, and expose children to structured social environments. A child who attends weekly swimming lessons, for instance, not only gains a valuable safety skill but also learns the importance of commitment and regular practice. Furthermore, such activities are often conducted in safe, monitored settings, which gives parents peace of mind.
Body 2 — Free Play
On the other hand, proponents of free play argue that unstructured time is equally, if not more, important for a child's development. When children are free to choose their own activities, they exercise creativity, develop autonomy, and learn to manage their own time. Research in developmental psychology suggests that imaginative, child-directed play fosters problem-solving abilities and emotional resilience in ways that structured lessons cannot replicate.
Conclusion + Own Opinion
In my view, neither extreme is ideal. Children benefit most when structured activities and free time are balanced thoughtfully. A schedule that reserves space for both adult-organised programmes and independent play allows children to acquire concrete skills while also nurturing their creativity and sense of self. Parents and educators should therefore resist the temptation to over-schedule and instead cultivate an environment where both types of activity can thrive.
