TRANSCRIPT

A conversation between a receptionist at a community training centre and a caller enquiring about a vocational training programme.

Receptionist:

Good morning, Bridgewater Community Training Centre. How can I help you?

Caller:

Hi, good morning. I'm calling because I saw an advertisement for your IT Support Technician programme. I'd like to get some more information and possibly register.

Receptionist:

Of course! I'll just take a few details. Could I start with your full name, please?

Caller:

Sure, it's Daniel Fernandez. That's F-E-R-N-A-N-D-E-Z.

Receptionist:

Thank you, Mr Fernandez. And could I have your date of birth?

Caller:

Yes, it's the fourteenth of March, nineteen ninety-two.

Receptionist:

Thank you. And what's the best contact number for you?

Caller:

My mobile is 07851 334 092.

Receptionist:

Perfect. Now, could you tell me your current level of education?

Caller:

I finished secondary school, and I also completed a two-year diploma in electronics back in 2015.

Receptionist:

Great. And are you currently employed?

Caller:

I'm working part-time at a supermarket at the moment, which is why I'm looking for a better career option.

Receptionist:

Understood. So for the programme itself — the IT Support Technician course runs for twelve weeks. There are two options: a daytime cohort which meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from nine to one, or an evening cohort which meets Tuesday and Thursday from six to nine PM, plus Saturday mornings from ten to one.

Caller:

I think the evening and Saturday one would work better because of my job.

Receptionist:

Perfect. The next evening cohort starts on the fifteenth of June. The enrolment fee is two hundred and fifty pounds, but if you're receiving any government benefit, you may be eligible for a fifty percent reduction.

Caller:

Oh, that's good to know. I do receive Universal Credit, actually.

Receptionist:

In that case, you'd only pay one hundred and twenty-five pounds. You'll need to bring proof of that when you come in to register. Could I also ask how you heard about the programme?

Caller:

I saw a poster at my local library.

Receptionist:

Excellent. And one last thing — do you have any specific learning needs or disabilities we should be aware of?

Caller:

No, nothing like that. Oh, actually — I do have some difficulty with reading speed, so extra time for written assessments would be helpful.

Receptionist:

Absolutely, we can arrange that. I'll make a note. So to confirm: we have you down for the evening and Saturday cohort starting June fifteenth, with a reduced fee of one hundred and twenty-five pounds. We'll send a confirmation email within two working days. What's your email address?

Caller:

It's d.fernandez92 at gmail dot com.

Receptionist:

Let me read that back — d.fernandez92 at gmail.com. Is that correct?

Caller:

Yes, that's right.

Receptionist:

Wonderful. Is there anything else I can help you with today?

Caller:

Actually, yes — is there parking available at the centre?

Receptionist:

There is, yes. We have a small car park at the rear of the building, accessible from Crescent Road. There's no charge for students during registered hours.

Caller:

That's great. Thank you so much.

Receptionist:

You're very welcome. We look forward to seeing you!
