モデル解答(Band 7.5〜8.0相当)

Part 1 モデル解答

PART 1 — MODEL ANSWERS
Q1: Do you use the internet a lot every day?
Honestly, yes — I'd say I'm online pretty much throughout the day. I use it for work, keeping up with news, and staying in touch with friends. I think it's become almost like a utility for me, like electricity — I barely notice it until it's gone.
Q2: How has technology changed the way you communicate?
It's changed dramatically, actually. When I was growing up, you'd call someone or meet in person. Now, most of my communication happens through messaging apps or video calls. It's more convenient, but I sometimes wonder if we've lost some of the depth that face-to-face conversations used to have.
Q3: Do you think people are too dependent on smartphones?
To be honest, I think many of us are — myself included. There's research showing that people check their phones dozens of times a day without even realising it. That said, I think it depends on how you use it. If you're using it productively, it's a tool; if you're just scrolling mindlessly, it becomes a problem.

Part 2 モデル解答(スマートフォン・195語)

PART 2 — CUE CARD RESPONSE (~195 words)
The piece of technology I'd like to describe is my smartphone — specifically, the way I use it as a productivity and communication hub.
I first got a proper smartphone around 2013, when apps were really starting to take off. Back then, I mainly used it for calls and social media, but over the years, it's evolved into something much more central to my daily life.
These days, I use it for virtually everything. I manage my work calendar, join video meetings, track my fitness, and even do my banking on it. What I find most useful is the ability to work from anywhere — I can respond to messages on the train or review documents during my lunch break.
What's truly transformed my life, though, is the way it's connected me to information. Before smartphones, if I wanted to know something, I'd have to wait until I got home to use a computer. Now, any question I have is answered within seconds.
Overall, I'd say the smartphone has made me significantly more efficient, though I do consciously try to unplug in the evenings to maintain some balance.

Part 3 モデル解答(Q2: Benefits vs Disadvantages)

PART 3 — DISCUSSION RESPONSE
That's a complex issue, and I think the answer really depends on context. On the whole, yes, I believe the benefits are greater — technology has revolutionised healthcare, education, and communication in ways that were unimaginable a few decades ago. Thanks to advances in medicine, diseases that were once fatal can now be treated effectively.
However, it's worth considering the downsides. Automation has displaced many workers in manufacturing and even white-collar industries. There are also serious concerns about privacy — with so much data being collected about us, it raises real questions about who controls that information.
There's no denying that technology has also widened the digital divide between developed and developing nations. Those without access to reliable internet are increasingly left behind.
So while I'm generally optimistic, I think the key is regulation and education — ensuring that the benefits are distributed equitably and that people understand how to use technology responsibly.
