Part 1
"I work as a software engineer. I particularly enjoy problem-solving and building things that people actually use. There's something really satisfying about finally cracking a difficult problem."
(ER doctor)
Honestly, I'm not sure I could handle the pressure, but I deeply admire people who do."
"In my view, job satisfaction is ultimately more important than a high salary. Firstly, research shows that once basic needs are met, additional income has diminishing returns on wellbeing. Secondly, people who find meaningful work tend to be more productive and resilient. That said, I recognise that for those in lower-income brackets, salary necessarily takes priority."
"I work as a software engineer, and what I enjoy most is the problem-solving aspect. Every day brings a different challenge — whether it's optimising a slow system or figuring out why a bug is happening. There's something really satisfying about finally cracking a difficult problem. I also appreciate that the field is constantly evolving, so there's always something new to learn."
Opening "I'd like to talk about medicine — specifically, working as an emergency room doctor. It's a career that I find both deeply challenging and immensely rewarding.
Body 1 — Challenge In terms of challenges, the pressure is enormous. ER doctors have to make critical decisions within seconds — decisions that could mean the difference between life and death. The hours are long, the emotional toll is significant, and there is very little room for error. On top of that, doctors must stay current with rapidly advancing medical knowledge throughout their careers.
Body 2 — Reward However, the rewards are equally substantial. There is perhaps no greater feeling than knowing you have saved someone's life. ER doctors are on the front lines of healthcare, and the gratitude from patients and families can be deeply moving.
Reflection As for whether I would do it myself — honestly, I'm not sure I could handle the pressure. I admire people who can, but I think I'm better suited to the kind of problem-solving that software development offers."

"That's a really interesting question. In my view, job satisfaction is ultimately more important than a high salary, though I recognise that both matter.
The reason I say this is that a high salary can certainly reduce financial stress, but it doesn't guarantee happiness at work. Research consistently shows that once people's basic needs are met, additional income has diminishing returns on overall wellbeing. On the other hand, people who find their work meaningful tend to be more engaged, productive, and resilient under pressure.
That said, I don't think this is a straightforward choice for everyone. For people in lower-income brackets, salary obviously takes priority. But for those who have enough to live comfortably, I believe most would choose a fulfilling job over a well-paid but soul-crushing one."
