Part 1 モデル解答
I currently work as a software engineer at a mid-sized tech company. I've been in this role for about three years now, after finishing my degree in computer science.
What I enjoy most is probably the problem-solving aspect of it. There's something genuinely satisfying about breaking down a complicated issue and gradually working out a solution, especially when it involves collaborating with teammates.
Quite a few, actually. Beyond the technical programming skills, I had to develop transferable skills like effective communication and time management, since a lot of the job involves explaining technical decisions to non-technical colleagues.
Honestly, it depends on the task. I enjoy focused, independent work when I'm debugging something complex, but I generally prefer being part of a team overall, since bouncing ideas off colleagues tends to lead to better outcomes.
Part 2 モデル解答(Cue Card)
導入 I'd like to talk about my ideal job, which would probably be something like a technical lead at a company that builds products with a genuine social impact — for instance, in education technology or healthcare.
What This job would mainly involve overseeing the technical direction of a small team, while still writing code myself rather than moving entirely into management. I'd want to stay hands-on, because I think losing touch with the actual technical work would take away a lot of the satisfaction.
Skills To do this well, you'd need strong technical expertise, obviously, but also softer skills like mentoring junior developers and communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders. Patience and the ability to explain complex ideas simply would probably matter just as much as coding ability itself.
Where I'd love to do this job somewhere with a flexible, remote-friendly working culture, ideally with the option to travel while working.
Why The main reason this would be my ideal job is that it would combine two things I genuinely value — solving meaningful technical problems and helping other people grow professionally — while still giving me the flexibility to shape my own working life.
Part 3 モデル解答
I don't think it's quite that simple — it really depends on someone's stage in life. For someone with financial obligations, like supporting a family, salary might understandably take priority. That said, in my view, job satisfaction tends to matter more in the long run, because a well-paid job that you find draining is likely to lead to burnout eventually. Ideally, people should aim for a reasonable balance between the two rather than optimising for either extreme.
I think it's going to have a significant impact, particularly on roles involving repetitive or predictable tasks, which are increasingly at risk of automation. That said, I don't think it's purely negative — AI is also likely to create entirely new job categories that don't exist yet, much like the internet did decades ago. The real challenge, I believe, will be helping workers transition into these new roles through retraining and education, rather than AI adoption itself being the problem.
Yes, absolutely, I think there's a real gap here in many education systems. Schools tend to focus heavily on academic knowledge but often neglect transferable skills like communication, teamwork, and financial literacy, which are arguably just as important once students enter the workforce. For instance, very few schools teach students how to write a CV or handle a job interview. While academic subjects obviously matter, I think a more balanced curriculum would better prepare students for real working life.
