Day 123 復習Ms. Reyes: Hi, Photography Society, this is Reyes speaking. How can I help?
Ben: Hi, I'm a first-year student and I'd like to join the club — could you tell me about membership?
Ms. Reyes: Sure. Standard membership is £20 for the whole academic year, and that covers our weekly meet-ups and access to the darkroom. There's also a Plus membership at £35, which includes everything in Standard, plus entry to our monthly print competitions and use of the studio lighting kit.
Ben: Great, and is there any discount for students?
Ms. Reyes: Actually, everyone who joins is a student, so there isn't a separate student discount — but international students do get 10% off, on either tier, if they show their student visa documentation at sign-up.
Ben: I see. What about equipment — do I need my own camera?
Ms. Reyes: You don't need one to join, but for the darkroom sessions specifically, you'll need to bring your own film — we don't supply that. The camera itself you can borrow from us, actually, though only Plus members can borrow the DSLR kits; Standard members can only borrow the basic compact cameras.
Ben: Okay, that makes sense. How do I sign up for the print competition?
Ms. Reyes: You submit your entry through our website — sorry, hold on, that's changed recently — we've actually moved that over to email submissions now, so you'd send your photo directly to competitions@ — I'll spell that out for you in the confirmation email.
Ben: Perfect. And is there a deadline for joining before the first meet-up?
Ms. Reyes: Ideally sign up at least 3 days before, just so we can add you to the mailing list in time.

Day 120 復習Reading: Matching Features(3問)
Day 119 復習Dr. Alvarez has argued that the primary benefit of urban green space lies not in its ecological function but in its capacity to reduce residents' reported stress levels, citing survey data from several mid-sized cities. Prof. Kim, by contrast, contends that green space's chief value is ecological — specifically, its role in mitigating the urban heat island effect — and that stress-reduction benefits, while real, are secondary and difficult to quantify reliably. Dr. Novak takes a different position altogether, suggesting that the debate over primary versus secondary benefits is somewhat beside the point, since the two are so closely intertwined in practice that municipal policy should be designed around whichever benefit is easiest to measure and communicate to voters, regardless of which is theoretically more important.

Day 118 復習Speaking: if節複合文運用(口頭 or 記述で回答)
Part A(パラフレーズ・条件範囲・自己訂正)
Part B(否定接頭辞)
Part C(Matching Features)
Q10: Dr. Novakの「measure and communicate to votersのしやすさで政策設計すべき」という主張と一致 → C。
Part D(Cohesion)
However" の前後を "Although ~ is expensive, it brings..."
Part E(if節複合文)
"If enough individuals changed their habits, it could add up to a meaningful impact — although if governments failed to regulate large emitters, individual efforts alone wouldn't be enough."

- Part D: "Public transport" の反復を減らし、"it" "such investment" などで結束させる。
- Part E: "If [条件A], [結果A] — although if [条件B], [結果B]" の対比構造が使いやすい。
- Part D モデル骨格 → "Although such investment is costly, it reduces both congestion and pollution, and its long-term benefits mean governments should prioritise it."
- Part E モデル骨格 → "If enough individuals changed small daily habits, it could arguably add up to a meaningful reduction in emissions. That said, if governments and large corporations failed to act on a systemic level, individual efforts alone probably wouldn't be enough to reverse the trend."
Plus membership at £35" |
| 2 | A | 学生専用の割引はないが、international studentsはビザ書類提示でどちらのtierでも10%割引 | "international students do get 10% off, on either tier" |
| 3 | A | 自分のフィルム(film) | "you'll need to bring your own film — we don't supply that" |
| 4 | A | Plus会員のみ | "only Plus members can borrow the DSLR kits" |
| 5 | A | ウェブサイトからの応募 → メール応募(competitions@)に変更されたと訂正 | "sorry, hold on, that's changed recently — we've actually moved that over to email submissions" |
| 6 | B | "...completely irrelevant to the current budget discussion."
| 7 | B | "...the policy is illogical, given the evidence available."
| 8 | B | "It would be irresponsible of the company to ignore the safety report."
| 9 | C | B(Prof. Kim) | "role in mitigating the urban heat island effect" |
| 10 | C | C(Dr. Novak) | "whichever benefit is easiest to measure and communicate to voters" |
| 11 | C | A(Dr. Alvarez) | "capacity to reduce residents' reported stress levels" |
"Governments should invest more in public transport, since it reduces both traffic congestion and air pollution. Although such investment is expensive, it brings long-term benefits that outweigh the initial cost. For this reason, prioritising it should be a key policy goal."
"I'd say individuals can make a difference, but only up to a point. If enough people changed small daily habits — cycling instead of driving, for instance — it could arguably add up to a meaningful reduction in emissions over time. That said, if governments and large corporations failed to act on a systemic level, individual efforts alone probably wouldn't be enough to reverse the broader trend, so I think real progress needs both."
