Day114(Process Diagram)・Day128(Map)・Day121(Mixed Graph)・Day135(Overviewの書き方)と、Task 1の「型」を一通り学んできました。
2. IELTS公式の指示文 "Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features" には、最初から「選ぶこと」が明記されています。
| 3 | 例外(outlier)を独立して扱う | 例外も他データと同列に埋没させる | "the most notable exception was..."
Coherence & Cohesion (CC):
Lexical Resource (LR): "the most notable exception", "occupied the middle ground"
Grammatical Range (GRA): 比較級・最上級・分数表現(less than a third of, barely half of)を正確に使えているか
Writing Task 1 Band Descriptor
| Band | Task Achievement | Lexical Resource | Grammatical Range |
|---|---|---|---|
The table below shows the percentage of four types of household waste that were recycled in five countries in 2023.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Paper | Plastic | Glass | Organic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Germany | 84% | 56% | 89% | 67% |
| Japan | 81% | 24% | 71% | 45% |
| Australia | 62% | 18% | 55% | 38% |
| Brazil | 34% | 12% | 41% | 22% |
| India | 27% | 9% | 33% | 15% |
Overviewでは「軸」だけを言葉にする: "Overall, [国A] recorded the highest rate across nearly every category, while [国B] recorded the lowest..."
例外は独立文で扱う: "The most notable exception to this pattern was [国], whose [項目] rate was..."

- Germanyはglassで最高値(89%)、paper(84%)・organic(67%)も最高
特にplastic(9%)は表全体で最も低い数値
- "occupied the middle ground" や "notably more ... than" のような表現で、細部を書かずに差を要約する
Intro The table shows the percentage of four types of household waste — paper, plastic, glass, and organic waste — that was recycled in five countries in 2023.
Overview Overall, Germany recorded the highest recycling rates across nearly every category, while India recorded the lowest, with the other three countries falling into a broadly consistent order in between. The most notable exception to this pattern was Japan, whose plastic recycling rate was far lower than its paper rate. In addition, plastic was recycled far less than the other three materials in every country surveyed.
Body 1 Germany led all countries in glass recycling and also recorded the highest rates for paper and organic waste. Japan followed a broadly similar pattern for most materials, but its plastic recycling rate was barely a third of its paper rate, giving it the widest gap between its best- and worst-performing categories of any country.
Body 2 At the other end of the scale, India recycled roughly a third of its glass waste and even less of its organic waste, while its plastic recycling rate was the lowest figure recorded for any material in any country. Brazil and Australia occupied the middle ground, with Australia recycling notably more paper and glass than Brazil, although both recycled less than a fifth of their plastic waste.
Body 1 Germany led all countries in glass recycling, at 89%, and also recorded the highest rates for paper (84%) and organic waste (67%). Japan followed a broadly similar pattern for most materials, reaching 81% for paper and 71% for glass, but its plastic recycling rate of just 24% was barely a third of its paper figure, giving it the widest gap between its best- and worst-performing categories of any country in the table.
Body 2 At the other end of the scale, India recycled roughly a third of its glass waste (33%) and even less of its organic waste (15%), while its plastic recycling rate of only 9% was the lowest figure recorded for any material in any country. Brazil and Australia occupied the middle ground, with Australia recycling notably more paper (62%) and glass (55%) than Brazil (34% and 41% respectively), although both countries recycled less than a fifth of their plastic waste.
20個の数値のうち、実際に文中で引用しているのはおよそ9個(Germanyのglass/paper/organic、Japanのpaper/glass/plastic、Indiaのglass/organic/plastic、AustraliaとBrazilのpaper/glass)で、残りの11個は意図的に書いていない。
At the other end of the scale" という表現がBody 1(上位)とBody 2(下位)の対比を明示し、段落間の論理的な橋渡しになっている。
- the most notable exception to this pattern was...
- barely a third of / less than a fifth of — 個別の数値を出さずに範囲で要約する分数表現
- the widest gap between its best- and worst-performing categories — 1つの国の中でのカテゴリ間格差を数値なしで表す高度な言い回し
- "...its plastic recycling rate of just 24% was barely a third of its paper figure" — 分数表現と比較構文の組み合わせ
- "Australia recycling notably more paper (62%) and glass (55%) than Brazil (34% and 41% respectively)" — 副詞つき比較級と"respectively"による対応関係の明示
- "giving it the widest gap between its best- and worst-performing categories of any country in the table" — 分詞構文による結果の追加情報
- "while its plastic recycling rate of only 9% was the lowest figure recorded for any material in any country" — 関係節を伴わない過去分詞修飾による簡潔な情報付加
