Day 144 — Listening: Fernhill Community Allotments — Section 2(2

Listening Day — 土曜 — Section 2 2周目

Section
・自己訂正のシグナルが弱くなる: 1周目では "actually, sorry, that's out of date" のように訂正が明示されていたが、今回は "actually, no, that's the old policy" や、金額を言いかけて即座に言い直す("let me get that right")など、一瞬で情報が更新されるパターンが増える
・パラフレーズによる情報提示: 設問の項目名("Parking")がそのまま出てこず、"most people leave their cars on..."
Q1–7: Note Completion(ノート穴埋め) — 3語以内および/または数字
Q8–10: Multiple Choice(多肢選択) — A/B/Cから選択

Section 2 — Fernhill Community Allotments: Induction Talk

(Site opening hours, Full plot rent, Where most people parkなど)を頭に入れておくと、話題の切り替わりを追いやすくなります。
🌱 Section 2 — Induction talk by Trevor (site coordinator), addressing new allotment plot holders

Trevor: Hello everyone, and welcome to Fernhill Community Allotments! I'm Trevor, the site coordinator, and before I take you round to see your plots, I just want to run through a few practical points.

Trevor: First, access to the site. The main gate is locked outside opening hours, and each plot holder gets a keycode. We used to open at 6am and lock up at 8pm, but from this year the site committee — actually, no, that's the old policy, we've extended it, so now it's open from 6am right through until 9pm, seven days a week.

Trevor: Now, plot rents. There are two sizes here: a full plot, which is about ten rods, and a half plot, roughly five rods. The full plot works out at ninety-five pounds a year — sorry, let me get that right, it's actually ninety pounds a year, they brought the price down slightly this season — and the half plot is half that, forty-five pounds.

Trevor: If you're a pensioner or registered disabled, there's a concession rate of sixty pounds for a full plot, but that's only available if you bring proof — your pension book or your blue badge — to the site office in person; we can't apply it just because you tell us over the phone.

Trevor: For water, there are standpipes dotted around the site, and they're free to use, but during a hosepipe ban you can only fill a watering can, no hoses or sprinklers at all. Shared tools like the rotavator and the wheelbarrows are kept in the tool shed by gate two, and there's a returnable deposit of ten pounds for the shed key.

Trevor: Now, sheds and greenhouses on your own plot — you are allowed to put one up, but you'll need written permission from the committee first, and it can't be any taller than two metres, otherwise it'll block light for your neighbours.

Trevor: For parking, there's no car park directly by the plots, so most people leave their cars on Beckett Road, just outside the site gates, where parking's unrestricted.

Trevor: One more thing — every plot holder is expected to attend at least one committee meeting a year; if you miss all of them for two years running, your plot may be reallocated to someone on the waiting list.

Trevor: And finally, composting — we ask everyone to keep a compost heap and put in only plant waste, no cooked food, since that attracts rats.

Trevor: Right, let's head out and I'll show you where your plots are.

  1. ノートの項目名("Where most people park" など)と、トランスクリプト中の実際の言い回し("most people leave their cars on Beckett Road")が一致しないことが多い。
訂正の合図("actually", "let me get that right")は短く一瞬で終わることが多い

Multiple Choice

  • Q5 → £10(returnable deposit for the shed key)
  • Q6 → 2 metres
  • Q7 → Beckett Road(just outside the site gates)
  • Q8 → A(watering cans are the only method allowed during a hosepipe ban)
  • Q9 → B(plot may be reallocated to someone on the waiting list)
  • Q10 → A(written permission from the committee first)

1 6am – 9pm "we've extended it, so now it's open from 6am right through until 9pm, seven days a week"
2 £90 "it's actually ninety pounds a year, they brought the price down slightly this season"
3 £45 "the half plot is half that, forty-five pounds"
4 £60 "there's a concession rate of sixty pounds for a full plot, but that's only available if you bring proof... to the site office in person"
5 £10 "there's a returnable deposit of ten pounds for the shed key"
6 2 metres "it can't be any taller than two metres, otherwise it'll block light for your neighbours"
7 Beckett Road "most people leave their cars on Beckett Road, just outside the site gates"
8 A "during a hosepipe ban you can only fill a watering can, no hoses or sprinklers at all"
9 B "if you miss all of them for two years running, your plot may be reallocated to someone on the waiting list"
10 A "you are allowed to put one up, but you'll need written permission from the committee first"

Lexical Resource(語彙)

Grammatical Range & Accuracy(文法)

Trevorの賃料訂正部分("ninety-five pounds a year — sorry, let me get that right, it's actually ninety pounds")は、Phase 4レベルで求められる訂正シグナルの弱いパターンの典型。 Day123("I was going to say £50, but actually it's been reduced recently")と比べ、訂正の合図がより短く、聞き逃しやすい。
条件文の入れ子構造("if you're a pensioner or registered disabled, there's a concession rate... but that's only available if you bring proof... in person")は、2段階の条件(属性+手続き)を示す構文。

Note Completion
Multiple Choice

Q7に "the allotment car park" と書く "no car park directly by the plots" という否定文を聞き逃し、施設内に駐車場があると誤解する 実際には駐車場はなく、Beckett Road に路上駐車するのが正解
