| 140(火) | Reading | 深海鉱物資源開発 — Yes/No/Not Given + Table + MC(TWO) | Phase 3 | 「筆者自身の主張」と「第三者(advocates/proponents)の主張」を区別する |
| 143(金) | Speaking | Discourse Markers(well, now, right, so, anyway) | Phase 4 | 譲歩構文と組み合わせ、1つの答えに1〜2個だけ自然に差し込む |

Day 144 復習Priya: Hello everyone, and welcome to the Northgate Community Darkroom induction. I'm Priya, the lab coordinator.
First, access. The darkroom is normally open from 9am to 6pm on weekdays — actually, hold on, that's last year's hours. We've cut back a bit, so now it closes at 5pm on weekdays, though the weekend hours are unaffected.
Now, membership fees. Full membership is seventy pounds a year — sorry, let me check that — it's actually gone up slightly to seventy-five pounds this year. Students and those on income support get a reduced rate of forty pounds, but only if you show your student ID or benefits letter at the front desk in person; we can't apply the discount retroactively if you just email us a photo of it later.
Chemicals and printing paper are provided, but you'll need to bring your own storage folder for your finished prints, since we don't have any space here to keep personal work.
As for parking, there isn't a dedicated car park for the lab, so most members just use the free spaces on Orchard Lane, right behind the building.
One last thing — if you damage the enlarger equipment through careless use, you'll be charged a repair fee rather than losing your membership outright.
B. They are charged a repair fee
C. They are banned from the lab permanently

Day 141 復習"The committee reviewed all applications for the scholarship. They selected ten finalists."
"Analysing the exam results, several patterns emerged for the teachers."
______ (surprise) by the low pass rate, the school introduced extra tutoring sessions.
Reading: Yes/No/Not Given(4問)
Day 140 復習Paragraph 1. Proponents of the four-day work week argue that reduced hours do not necessarily mean reduced output, pointing to trial data from several companies showing that productivity per hour actually rose when weekly hours were cut. Some advocates also suggest that shorter weeks improve staff retention, since fewer employees leave for competitors offering more flexible schedules.
Paragraph 2. Critics counter that not all industries can adapt so easily. Sectors that rely on continuous customer-facing service, such as healthcare and retail, may simply need to hire more staff to cover the same operating hours, offsetting any productivity gains with higher wage costs. The evidence gathered so far, largely drawn from voluntary pilot schemes in white-collar office settings, may not generalise to industries with fundamentally different staffing needs.
Paragraph 3. Whether the four-day week can be extended beyond white-collar office settings therefore remains an open question, and it would be premature to treat the current trial results as proof that shorter weeks suit every sector.

Part A(Section 2
normally open from 9am to 6pm... actually, hold on, that's last year's hours... it closes at 5pm on weekdays" の訂正後(5pm)が正解
- Q3は設問語がそのまま出てこず、"bring your own storage folder for your finished prints" という言い換えから答えを拾う
Part B(分詞構文)
Part C(Yes/No/Not Given)
Part D(自己採点4プロトコル・CC/LR)
Part E(データ選択戦略)
軸1(項目別): Amsterdam=cycling最高、Tokyo=rail最高、Nairobi=bus最高という「各都市が異なる手段で首位」という構造。
Part F(Discourse Markers+
"Well, that's an interesting question..." While it is true that exams test knowledge fairly objectively, it is also the case that they don't capture skills like creativity or teamwork." So, on balance, I'd say..."
Having reviewed all applications, the committee selected ten finalists." |
| the most notable exception was... The most notable exception was Nairobi, where bus use was high but rail use was minimal." |
| Well, / Now, / Right, / So, / Anyway, | [Discourse Marker] |
| While it is true that X, it is also the case that Y | [譲歩] | Xを認めつつYで自分の立場を通す |
- Part A: 5pm(訂正後)→ £40(学生/生活保護かつ対面提示の条件クリア)→ storage folder → B(修理費請求)。
- Part C: Q8=YES、Q9=NO、Q10=YES、Q11=NOT GIVEN。
- Part D: CCは各文をTheme-Rhemeでつなぎ直し、LRは"public transport"の反復を"it""such services"などに置き換える。
- Part D リライト骨格 → "Public transport plays a vital role in modern cities, and this dual benefit — both environmental and social — is precisely why greater government investment is justified. Not only does it reduce the pollution caused by private cars, but it also provides essential mobility for..."
- Part E モデル骨格 → "Overall, Los Angeles recorded the lowest usage across all three modes of transport, while each of the other three cities was dominated by a different mode: cycling in Amsterdam, rail in Tokyo, and bus travel in Nairobi. The most notable exception to this pattern was Nairobi, where extremely high bus use was accompanied by almost no use of rail."
- Part F モデル骨格 → "Well, that's an interesting question. While it is true that exams measure knowledge in a fair, standardised way, it is also the case that they say very little about creativity or teamwork. So, on balance, I'd say exams should be one part of assessment, not the only one."
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A | 5pm(on weekdays) | "it closes at 5pm on weekdays"(訂正後の時間) |
| 3 | A | storage folder(for finished prints) | "bring your own storage folder for your finished prints" |
| 4 | A | B | "you'll be charged a repair fee rather than losing your membership outright" |
| 5 | B | "Having reviewed all applications for the scholarship, the committee selected ten finalists." |
| 6 | B | "Analysing the exam results, the teachers noticed several patterns."
| 7 | B | Surprised | school
| 8 | C | YES | Paragraph 1: "trial data from several companies showing that productivity per hour actually rose" |
| 10 | C | YES | Paragraph 3: "it would be premature to treat the current trial results as proof that shorter weeks suit every sector" |
| 11 | C | NOT GIVEN | Paragraph
"Public transport plays a vital role in modern cities, and this dual benefit — both environmental and social — is precisely why greater government investment is justified. Not only does it reduce the pollution caused by private cars, but it also provides essential mobility for elderly and low-income residents who have no alternative means of travel."
"Overall, Los Angeles recorded the lowest usage across all three modes of transport, while each of the other three cities was dominated by a different mode: cycling in Amsterdam, rail in Tokyo, and bus travel in Nairobi. The most notable exception to this pattern was Nairobi, where extremely high bus use was accompanied by almost no use of rail, giving it the widest gap between its most- and least-used modes of any city."
"Well, that's an interesting question, actually. While it is true that exams measure knowledge in a fairly objective, standardised way, it is also the case that they say very little about skills like creativity, teamwork, or the ability to apply knowledge to a real, messy situation. Right, I get that exams are easier to grade consistently across thousands of students, but that consistency comes at a cost. So, on balance, I'd say exams should remain one part of how students are assessed, rather than the only measure of their abilities."
